Like the CE and EG models the serial number is located on the neck plate on the back of the guitar. The following number determines the model: 8 or SA for the Swamp Ash Special, then the sequential number for that particular model After the year prefix, these models use a code digit of "4", indicating a bolt-on neck bass.Note for guitars without a serial number Up to 1977 there was just a label inside the guitar with the last two digits of the year in the bottom right hand corner (see example on the right).
View Pro Series Guitars Japanese-made Takamine models distributed in Japan have their own serial-numbering scheme that can be used to reliably date them.
In these eight-digit numbers, the first two digits signify the number of years since Takamine’s establishment in 1962.
This is followed by the sequential number for that particular model.
The serial number will be located on the neck plate on the back of the bass.
First generation 03 Series serial numbers may also be ink stamped on a white label.
